The ideal candidate will be interested in providing a full range of diagnostic, surgical and rehabilitative services for injuries and disorders of the skeletal system and associated bones, joints, tendons, muscles, ligaments and nerves./ppbr /bspanFair Labor Standards Act Status:/span/b Salaried/Exempt  br /bspanHours per week:/span/b 40  br /bspanScheduled Work Hours/Shift/span/b: Monday-Friday; hours will vary depending on physician’s schedule. /pulliTypical shift is 8:00am-5:00pm, but shift may start earlier or end later. /li/ulpbspanPatient Population Focus: /span/bInpatient, Outpatient, Emergency Department spanManagement/Consultation/span /ppbspanPatient Population Age Range: /span/b13 years-death /pp/ppbspanRequired Minimum Training and Experience  /span/bbr /Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant or completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as an APRN as noted below.   /pp/ppbspanAPRN License Type/Certification: /span/b/pulliFNP (Family NP): (birth to death) Stable chronic disease state management, primary care across the lifespan/li/ulp/ppbspanPreferred Training and Experience /span/bbr / /ppbspanPhysician Assistant or if APRN License Type/Certification: /span/b/pulliAGACNP/ACNP (Adult Gerontology Acute Care NP/Acute Care Nurse Practitioner): Adult pts (13 years to death), acutely ill or injured, potentially unstable, or technologically dependent (vents, drips, monitors, etc.) The NP must hold an RNFA certification upon hire to first assist in the operation room. /li/ulp/ppbspanExperience:/span/b Previous APP experience preferred in Orthopaedics./pp/ppbspanDegree of Supervision: /span/bAdvanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant will be assigned a Primary spanSupervising/Collaborating/span Physician employed by MUSC and will report directly to this physician. /pp/ppbspanRequired Licensure, Certifications, Registrations /span/b/pulliBasic Life Support (BLS) /liliAdvanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) /liliDHEC and DEA license/li/ulp/ppbspanJob Duties /span/b/ppbr /bspanProvides direct care to patients through the following activities: /span/b/pulliTakes comprehensive history and performs physical examinations/liliEvaluates and treats on the basis of history, physical examination, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results pursuant to the practice agreement or scope of practice guideline /liliInitiates referrals to other health care providers, and/or consults with the attending physician or the collaborating physician /liliDocuments and bills for direct care provided /liliUtilizes current research and evidence-based decision-making in all clinical practice /liliPerforms and participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research /liliParticipates in and supports accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization /liliDemonstrates responsibility for professional practice through active participation in professional organizations and continuing education /liliPotential to precept students at MUSC enrolled as an advanced practice provider student; and facilitates the learning of other new team members /liliAPRN or PA must maintain licenses, certifications, CNEs/CMEs, etc. as required by applicable policies and state law /liliFirst or second assistant in the operating room. Assist with use of monitoring devices /liliInitiate appropriate emergency care in the inpatient and outpatient setting until the arrival of the supervising physician br /Manage discharge of patients with appropriate disposition, follow-up planning, adjunctive therapy management and education /liliMake assessment of emergency conditions and, in conjunction with attending physician, implement management /liliProvide pre-and post-operative patient education to patients and their families /liliCommunicate with referring or primary care physicians regarding patient care and treatment /liliProvide follow-up and health maintenance care including the appropriate adjustment of medications in accordance with established protocols or in response to specific instructions from the Attending Physician /li/ulp style="text-align:inherit"/pp style="text-align:left"bAdditional Job Description/b/ppbspanPhysical Requirements /span/bbr /Continuous requirements are to perform job functions while standing, walking, and sitting. Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, reach in all directions. Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required. Maintain 20/40 vision corrected, see and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance, work in a latex safe environment and work indoors. Frequently lift, lower, push and pull and/or carry objects weighing 50 lbs (#43;/-) unassisted, exert up to 50 lbs of force, lift from 36#34; to overhead 25 lbs.
