Paralegal

pspanAmentum is seeking Paralegals to assist with the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA/Downwinders) claims team. The Paralegal role is crucial in ensuring the efficient and accurate handling of incoming materials supporting claims filed under RECA. The Paralegal will be evaluating evidence to make sure claims meet statutory criteria, as well as communicating with the case team and with claimants./spanbr / /ppspanThis position is responsible for following specific guidance and standard operation procedures to:/span/pullispanComplete standardized forms./span/lilispanProcess legal documents, reviewing them for correct form and timeliness, and annotating case files and status records to reflect receipt and due date for response or other actions required./span/lilispanAssist attorneys or paralegal specialists in compiling the case materials by retrieving, photocopying, and assembling documents, affidavits and legal memoranda./span/lilispanEstablish, maintain, and close out case files or systems of legal records, annotating indices and status records, compiling workload and status reports, and locating and abstracting data from files and records./span/lilispanConduct both technical and legal research./spanbr / /li/ulpspanRequired Qualifications:/span/pullispanMust be able to obtain and maintain MRPT facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for MRPT facility credentials/authorization at this work location./span/lilispanRequires paralegal certificate, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study. One year of legal training or legal experience or at least two years of college education may be substituted for the paralegal certificate./span/lilispanAdditionally, at least one year of litigation paralegal experience or project experience (as related to the task order) is required. /span/lilispanMust have basic legal knowledge and must have sufficient experience with legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw to perform basic legal research.  /span/li/ulp/pp/ppCompensation:/pp/ppThe hourly rate for this position is between $25.28 per hour.
