Work involves sweeping, mopping and using vacuum cleaners to clean floors; washing walls, woodwork and fixtures; and policing buildings to empty trash receptacles and pick up debris, etc. Work involves the transferring of equipment, custodial, instrument repair and audiovisual. Reports to the Assistant Principal or Principal./p pstrongnbsp;/strong/p pstrongQualification Requirements/strong/p ul liGeneral knowledge of the standard methods, materials, and equipment employed in janitorial work./li liSome knowledge of cleaning procedures and the use of cleaning materials./li liAbility to follow instructions./li liAbility to exercise independent judgment and initiative in completing work assignments./li liAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments./li liHas proven attendance record./li liHigh school diploma or equivalency preferred./li /ul pstrongSalarybr / /strongPay Grade NC 01/p pstrongReports to/strongbr / Assistant Principal or Principal/p pstrongEssential Functions/strong/p ul liSweeps sidewalks and walkways outside of buildings; polices grounds, picking up debris; shovels snow and/or applies de-icing compounds to walkways and driveways, as necessary./li liSweeps, mops, vacuums, strips, waxes and buffs floor surfaces./li liScrubs and cleans bathrooms, including toilets, mirrors, wash basins, urinals, commodes, slop sinks, etc. Fills tissue, towels, soap and other dispensers, disinfects as needed./li liEmpties trash receptacles; deposits recyclable material in proper receptacles./li liTo dust furniture, walls, window sills, blinds and other woodwork./li liCleans windows, walls, woodwork, blinds and light fixtures./li liClean drinking fountains./li liTo assemble, set up and move furniture as required./li liMay open and secure buildings at start and end of workday, respectively; may turn on and off lights at start and end of day, respectively, and adjust heating or air conditioning, as appropriate./li liTo clean and organize storage room./li liUnload and store supplies and deliveries./li liRaises and lowers flags at start and end of workday./li liPerforms minor maintenance on appliances, as abilities allow./li liPerforms related work as required./li /ul pstrongnbsp;/strong/p pstrongnbsp;/strong/p pstrongnbsp;/strong/p pstrongPhysical Requirements/strong/p ul liMust be physically able to operate vacuum cleaners, carpet shampooers, brooms, mops, leaf blowers, etc./li liMust be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to push, pull, and carry or otherwise move objects./li liRequires climbing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping and repetitive motion. May require working on ladders./li liRequires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately in using janitorial equipment. Requires the ability to handle a variety of items such as janitorial equipment./li liMust have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination./li liRequires the ability to talk and hear: (Talking: expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words.
