p /ppThe Public Transportation Driver reports to The Arc Mid-Hudson’s Transportation Supervisor under the guidelines of the Greene County Transit contract, must exhibit a high degree of competence and responsibility for the safety of passengers being transported. This occupation must be performed in a professional manner and in accordance with all the regulations specified in the New York State Vehicle amp; Traffic Law. This person performing this position must have good oral and written communication skills, customer service, patience, decision-making skills, the ability to operate efficiently and adhere to a strict timetable. /pullipDrivers must remain in compliance with FTA, NYS DOT and Article 19A of the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles that govern all public transportation requirements. /p/lilipProvides behind-the-wheel training to new non-CDL drivers. May provide other training to assist with new drivers. /p/lilipWill evaluate runs and roadway conditions and report back to Transportation Supervisor. /p/li/ulullipWill perform driving skills to prevent accidents and promote safety. /p/lilipMust pass yearly physical fitness test as required by the Federal Transit Administration and NYS DMV 19-A. /p/lilipMust pass yearly NYS DMV19-A road test and written CDL comprehensive test as required by NYS 19-A. /p/lilipMust maintain an acceptable driving record that meets the minimum standard of NYS DMV 19-A driver qualifications. /p/lilipWill be subjected to Drug and Alcohol testing that meets the standards of the program requirements. /p/li/ulullipMust perform pre/post trip inspections of assigned vehicle. /p/lilipResponsible for the cleanliness of vehicle. /p/lilipResponsible for notifying Transportation Supervisor no later than the next working day after receiving a summons for a motor vehicle moving violation, or being involved in a reportable motor vehicle collision. This notification responsibility is required even if the incident occurs in the driver's personal, rented, or borrowed vehicle. /p/lilipResponsible for the successful completion of training courses as scheduled by Transportation Services. /p/lilipResponsible for the safe passage, comfort and proper supervision of passengers being transported between assigned points. /p/li/ulullipResponsible for bringing ill and/or injured passengers that receive services from The Arc of Mid-Hudson to the nurse’s office upon arrival at the Agency in the morning, or before embarking in the afternoon. /p/lilipResponsible for completing the Agency’s Incident Report as required by the Quality Assurance policy. /p/lilipResponsible for completing Transportation Services Vehicle Collision Report for all vehicle collisions. /p/lilipWill be required to wear a uniform. Driver will maintain the cleanliness and professional appearance of their uniform. /p/lilipAbility to follow a regular route on a time schedule. /p/li/ulullipDeal with unruly passengers in a calm and professional manner. /p/lilipDemonstrate regular and consistent attendance and punctuality. /p/lilipAnnounce next destination. /p/lilipAnswer questions about schedules, routes and transfer points. /p/lilipReport accidents or other traffic disruptions to a central dispatcher and follow directions when using an alternate route. /p/li/ulullipAssist disabled passengers. /p/lilipCollect fares and sell tickets. /p/lilipMust be able to operate a wheelchair lift, properly tie down a wheelchair using securements and operate any other attachments to the vehicle. /p/lilipDrive transit vehicles in difficult weather conditions. /p/lilipReport emergency situations, delays or mechanical problems with the bus to the supervisor. /p/li/ulullipMake decisions to accommodate reasonable modifications for safe passage of passengers. /p/lilipMay be required to perform other transportation related duties as deemed necessary by supervisor. These duties may include, but are not limited to, clerical work and minor vehicle repairs. /p/li/ulp /ppstrongEssential Minimum Physical Demand Job Requirements: /strong /pullipEmployee must be able to meet the demands of vehicle operations but not limited to push, pull and/or lift 50lbs. /p/li/ulullipMust be able to pass a FTA DOT physical fitness test annually. /p/lilipMust be able to pass a drug and alcohol pre-employment and submit to random drug and alcohol testing. /p/lilipMust be able to utilize standard office equipment; access filing system/cabinets; and communicate effectively, clearly and efficiently in person, by telephone, in writing or CB radio. /p/lilipBe fully able to drive company vehicle to hold a route and passenger guidance /p/li/ulpstrong /strong strongMust be able to: /strong/pullipSit and stand for extended periods of time. /p/li/ulullipReach below waist height to assist individuals. /p/lilipSquat/ half-kneel to remove / reinstall footrests on wheel chairs, and secure wheelchairs within vehicles.strong /strong /p/li/ulp /ppAs a Public Transportation Driver, the employee may be exposed to slip and trip hazards, inclement weather, and unpredictable driving conditions. /pp /ppstrongHOURS:/strong strong 40/Monday through Friday/variable split shifts, according to route schedule/strong/ppstrongSTARTING SALARY: /strongstrong$ 22.87 to $ 25.16 per hour with CDL w/Passenger Endorsement/strong/pp /pp /pp /pp /pp /pp /p
