Handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. Ensures quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly monitoring the maintenance of the sterile field./p pJob Requirements:/p div pEducation and Work Experience:/p ul liAssociate Degree or Certificate of Program Completion in Surgical Technology: Required/li liRelevant acute care experience: Preferred/li /ul /div div pLicenses/Certifications:/p ul liNational Board of Surgical Technologists or Association of Surgical Technologists certified: Preferred/li liCardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Preferred/li /ul /div div pFacility Specific License/Certifications:/p ul liBasic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQI BLS) certification: Required/li liCertified Surgery Technician (CST) certification or Tech in Surgery TS-C (NCCT) certification: Required/li /ul /div div pEssential Functions:/p ul liVerifies surgery to be performed with consent forms and brings patient to assigned operating room. Passes instruments to surgeon during procedure. Anticipates surgeon's needs of additional supplies. Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before incision is closed. Prepares sterile dressings. Secures dressings after incision closure./li liChecks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure. Obtains appropriate sterile and unsterile items needed for procedure. Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedure. Helps drape sterile field./li liCleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization. Assists other members of team with cleaning of room for turnover.
