pThe Echocardiographer is qualified by professional credentialing and clinic experience to provide cardiac diagnostic patient care services utilizing ultrasound and related diagnostic procedures. The scope of practice for the Echocardiographer is consistent with the individual's experience, clinical education, competency assessment, and appropriate certification from American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) and/ or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI). The Echocardiographer is responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment and performing and communicating results of cardiac diagnostic sonography examinations. The Echocardiographer is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the cardiac diagnostic sonographic lab and will maintain a high standard of medical ethics at all times. The individual will be responsible for maintenance of all lab equipment, infection control, patient safety, and an effective quality assurance program. The Echocardiographer is responsible to the Manager of Respiratory Care Services./p p /p pstrongQUALIFICATIONS:  /strong/p ul liGraduate of an ultrasonography program or equivalent./li liPreferred one year prior experience in adult, pediatric, and neonate cardiac diagnostic sonography/li li Current American Heart Association BLS./li /ul p /p pstrongESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: /strong /p ul liDemonstrates qualifications for the position by professional credentialing, evidence of appropriate clinical experience, and competency assessment with certification from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Cardiovascular Credentialing/li liPerform clinical assessment and cardiac diagnostic sonographic examinations for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients with the ability to monitor patient's physical and psychological status and ensure patient safety./li liExtensive knowledge of cardiopulmonary physiology, therapeutics and diagnostics for all ages and types of patients, and the ability to monitor the patient's physical and psychological/li liMust possess visual acuity necessary to perform patient assessments and procedures; hearing acuity sufficient to ensure accurate communication with patients, physicians, and healthcare team members; speaking ability sufficient to ensure good communication skills./li liEvidence of continuing education appropriate for the area of/li liAll other duties as assigned./li /ul p /p pstrongPHYSICAL/MENTAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIRMENTS: /strong /p ul liPhysical ability to push and pull heavy equipment on wheels (up to 400 lbs), lift up to 50 lbs, carry up to 25 lbs, optimally position patients for exams, possess adequate arm strength to maintain prolonged positions during exams, possess digital dexterity, and the ability to stand or sit for up to 80% of the work day./li liOccasional exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue, communicable diseases, chemicals, including but not limited to sticks or cuts by needles and other sharp items./li liMust be able to perform the duties of this position with or without reasonable accommodations./li /ul p /p
