pDescription/ppA Materials Management Technician monitors and coordinates the tasks necessary to ensure accurate and timely procurement, receiving, distributing, and storing of hospital supplies, equipment, and services needed by the hospital to provide quality patient care. Prepares orders and bid requests. Negotiates with vendors to obtain optimum quality, cost, terms etc.nbsp;/ppbr//ppESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/pulliSupports and promotes an environment conducive with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the hospital.nbsp;/liliDeliver supplies to all departments according to par levels and/or requisitions per schedule. Reconcile patient charges and properly document lost charges.nbsp;/liliPost daily requisitions and receiving reports to maintain a current inventory record./liliPlace orders in accordance with vender guidelines and establish hospital purchasing policies using contract pricing, when possible, to maintain adequate inventory for Materials Management inventory items./liliVerify pricing, correct any variances, and input price updates to Materials Management system weekly./liliMaintain file of purchase orders, requisitions, catalogs, and price lists/liliActively participates in the evaluation of new equipment and materials./liliSubmits repair claims and maintains necessary records./liliTracks and maintains Material Safety Data Sheets and Product Recalls/liliFollow-up on backorders weekly/liliFollow-up on outstanding credits monthly/liliComplete and reconcile daily and monthly reports./liliProvide shipping and receiving functions./liliLabel patient chargeable items with yellow stickers./liliStock shelves, rotate supplies and monitor expiration dates./liliMonitor and maintain appropriate inventory level for all inventory supplies./liliParticipate in annual fiscal year inventory.nbsp;/liliCheck and restock supplies on suction machines and IV and Airflow pumps.nbsp;/liliCopies hospital forms for inventory and other departments as needed./liliAssists with daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning of work and storage areas./liliMaintain confidentiality of all patients, hospital, or physician related information/liliMaintain orderly condition of assigned work area./liliApplies proper postage to outgoing mail.nbsp;/liliDistributes incoming mail to proper departmental mailbox.nbsp;/liliIs knowledgeable of general hospital and department specific policies and procedures./liliOther duties many be assigned and are subject to change with or without prior notice./li/ulpbr//ppADDITIONAL DUTIES/pulliDisplays accountability for actions and decisions for the materials management process./liliCompletes assigned daily duties./liliAccepts reassignment to other departments if necessary./liliFollows expected work practices./liliDisplays thoroughness and accuracy of work./liliWorks in a safe manner, including reporting unsafe equipment or environment./liliWell organized, accepts assignments willingly and accomplishes them quickly./liliAnticipates problems and suggests solutions./liliHelp as needed with duties not specifically assigned.nbsp;/liliWorks steadily and always keeps busy./liliMaintain knowledge and skills necessary to communicate and interact with patients, visitors, and staff in the following age groups: Infant, Pediatric/adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric/liliAbility to work well with a diverse work team./liliAbility to work under pressure with time constraints./liliAbility to concentrate./liliAbility to work independently with minimal supervision.nbsp;/liliAbility to work well with numbers./liliGood mental health and emotional maturity/liliMaintain appearance appropriate for job duties./liliAbility to acquire and maintain current knowledge in materials management functions.nbsp;/liliDisplays knowledge of sterile and non-sterile supplies, equipment, and procedures/li/ulp(The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
