CNC Laser Operator - Full-time

It is important that someone in this position always pays attention to the machine to ensure that it is working properly./spanspan They are responsible for the daily setup and operation of one or more CNC cutting machines. They will also assist other CNC operators with any of their daily duties including area housekeeping, maintenance work, part cleaning and material staging./span/p pbr/p pspan style="font-weight: bold"span style="color: #2d2d2d; font-family: 'Helvetica',sans-serif"Responsibilities/span/span/p ul librspan style="color: #333333"Responsible to Set up, operate, shut down procedures and maintain CNC lasers to produce parts using setup instructions, shop orders and prints/span/li librspanFacilitate work-order paper flow in accordance with company quality standards/span/li librspan style="color: #333333"Download laser programs and modify them, as needed, to optimize performance and part yield/span/li librspan style="color: #333333"Locates and verifies material required to produce parts per shop order, may recommend material sheet change to optimize part yield or to take advantage of drop-off material/span/li librspan style="color: #333333"Enters machine settings for laser cutting operation to ensure correct lens, nozzle, assist gases and laser head are in place/span/li librspan style="color: #333333"Monitors equipment performance throughout cycle to ensure optimal operation of laser and reports to supervisor any maintenance needs/span/li librspan style="color: #333333"Conducts tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance/span/li librspan style="color: #333333"Inspects and measures parts to maintain quality records including verifying set-up piece and submission to Quality of 1st article for inspection or other required quality procedures/span/li librspan style="color: #333333"Observes levels of assist gasses, changes tanks as required /spanspanand recommends supply requirements for daily production/span/li librspan style="color: #333333"Deburrs parts or performs other secondary operations during machine cycle, when needed/span/li librspan style="color: #333333"Stack or load finished items on palates and rout to correct next routing step departments/span/li librspan style="color: #333333"Confer with supervisors or programmers to resolve machine malfunctions or production errors or /spanspanto obtain approval to continue production./span/li librspanImplement changes to machine programs, and enter new specifications, using computers/span/li librspanSet up future jobs while machines are operating./span/li librspanClean machines, tooling, or parts, using solvents or solutions and rags./span/li librspanConsidering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one/span/li librspanUse logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems./span/li librspanStage raw materials at each work-center for the day’s production/span/li librspanLoad and unload machines/span/li librMaintain daily dust collector service and associated logbook in assigned area and report equipment deficiencies/li librEnsure production schedule follow through as allocated by the scheduling department./li librAssist in loading and unloading team members’ machines when production requires additional manpower to maintain throughput/li librPerform minor maintenance and cleaning of cutting equipment and work area in accordance with company standards and manufactures machine recommendations./li librPerform some machine alignment procedures and optic cleaning to keep equipment at peak operating performance/li librMake sure management is aware of any inventory items needed to reorder to maintain operation of machine/li librOther duties assigned by Lead/Supervisor or Management/li /ul pbr/p pspan style="font-weight: bold"span style="font-family: 'Helvetica',sans-serif"Expectations/span/span/p pspan style="color: #302c2c; font-size: 15px"The role of this position is to know how to operate and set up machines. They ensure efficiency and correct operation of the machine. Whenever the machine malfunctions, they are able to bring it back into working order by using resources available to them. They make fast, accurate decisions relating to the production process and equipment. They should understand the details of the product to be manufactured, such as the product size and use. Quality standards must be strictly adhered to, so attention to detail is extremely important. A laser machine operator may frequently use a chart to perform routine checks and maintenance on machines to make sure they are always in working order.
