This position requires an outgoing individual capable of leading wet-lab operation throughout all stages of survey operation./span/p pbr/p pspan style="font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold"Duties/Responsibilities:/span/p pspan style="font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold"Survey Preparation and Participation:/span/p ul lispan style="font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 12pt"Complete training to access NWFSC server and prepare for at-sea research deployment./span/li lispan style="font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 12pt"Familiarize with the software and methods for troubleshooting peripheral devices under the guidance of FEAT Newport staff./span/li lispan style="font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 12pt"Set up the wet lab and assist with deploying equipment on research vessels./span/li lispan style="font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 12pt"Deploy on research vessels for extended periods, sometimes working shifts of up to 12 hours for approximately 35-70 days per year./span/li lispan style="font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 12pt"Collect and analyze samples, documenting all efforts through detailed at-sea notes and progress reports./span/li lispan style="font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 12pt"Update and maintain databases, ensuring accurate data tracking./span/li lispan style="font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 12pt"Organize, inventory, and maintain necessary supplies pre-survey and during deployment./span/li lispan style="font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 12pt"Complete post-survey tasks, including analyzing stomach contents, preserving samples, and inventorying gear./span/li lispan style="font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 12pt"Safely operate and drive vehicles, including trucks, and ensure proper handling while backing up and maneuvering in various field settings./span/li /ul pbr/p pspan style="font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 12pt"span style="font-weight: bold"Compensation:/span Candidates will be paid an hourly rate to be negotiated, and total compensation will vary depending on candidates’ depth of experience.
