Supports team in site clearing and chipping tree debris, and disposing of tree debris./p pstrongESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/strong/p pThe primary function of this position is to work as a lead climber for a standard tree crew while performing advanced tree care functions in support of jobsite and crew efficiency./p pA C-3 works as part of an effective tree care team. A climber at this level assists and supports the crew and crew leader in a variety of ways./p pRole Specific Responsibilities/p ul liWorking as part of a team./li liClimb trees to work at heights of up to 150 feet./li liPerform tree care activities that maintain safe and healthy trees for our clients./li liJob site set up and clean up./li liDaily equipment inspection and maintenance./li liSupporting other team members in tree care activities./li liEnsuring that all operations, job sites and team members are safe./li liEnsuring that the general public which might interact with the work area will be safe./li liCommunicating effectively with other crew members and the public./li /ul pstrongQUALIFICATIONS/strong/p pTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. It is critical to communicate effectively with the climber and crew leader to ensure safety and to perform the work within acceptable standards./p pstrongBEST PRACTICES AND PROCEDURES/strong/p pIt is essential to follow established procedures related to roping and rigging, maintenance of equipment, adjustments to equipment, and report malfunctioning equipment./p pstrongPHYSICAL DEMANDS/strong/p pThe physical demands described in the Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job./p pstrongDETAILED DESCRIPTION OF TASKS/strong/p pClimber 3 (strongC-3/strong) is an advanced level climber position. Team members at the C-3 level have advanced climber skills and demonstrate proficiency in the following areas related to tree care/p ul liArboricultural work procedures- a C-3 can perform advanced tree care operations such as pruning and limb removal on the ground and in small to large sized trees (up to 150 feet in height)/li liTree Access- a C-3 can access a tree safely according to company protocols after having made all the necessary inspections and assessments. A C-3 can safely and efficiently move throughout the canopy, and remove branches and entire trees without causing damage or injury./li liEquipment operation- a C-3 has advanced skills in the safe operation of powered equipment such as chippers, trucks and blowers./li liEquipment operation- a C-3 has advanced chainsaw skills, and demonstrates mastery of both ground based and canopy based chainsaw techniques./li liTools- a C-3 can effectively use hand tools such as a hand saws, pole pruners, pole saws, rakes and shovels to perform tree care tasks./li liTools- a C-3 can effectively design and configure advanced rigging systems to facilitate the safe removal of branches and entire trees./li liTools and Techniques- a C-3 is proficient in all phases of technical tree removals and rigging on compound jobs incorporating the use of cranes, and other heavy equipment/li liPPE- a C-3 uses task specific Personal Protective Equipment according to industry standards and company protocols./li liJobsite Management- a C-3 is responsible for keeping their work zone safe and organized. A C-3 effectively implements plans to prevent property damage and personal injury during tree care operations.
