Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:/span/em/p pnbsp;/p ul li style="font-weight: 400;"span style="font-weight: 400;"Assists in the planning and preparation of instructional materials and lessons that meet the needs of students with various disabilities. /span/li li style="font-weight: 400;"span style="font-weight: 400;"Supports student learning and reinforces instruction provided by certified teachers./span/li li style="font-weight: 400;"span style="font-weight: 400;"Works in conjunction with school health specialists, speech therapist, and physical therapist to administer lessons, activities, and therapy exercises. /span/li li style="font-weight: 400;"span style="font-weight: 400;"Monitors and records student behavior and progress. Assists with translating in IEP meetings and parent phones calls as needed. /span/li li style="font-weight: 400;"span style="font-weight: 400;"Escorts students to special classes. Guides student through obstacle courses. /span/li li style="font-weight: 400;"span style="font-weight: 400;"Physically assists student with eating, restroom use, hygiene, and getting on and off school busses as required. /span/li li style="font-weight: 400;"span style="font-weight: 400;"Cleans and disinfects toys, tables, and classroom. Assists in picking up and organizing toys and classroom materials at the end of lessons. /span/li li style="font-weight: 400;"span style="font-weight: 400;"Assists substitute teacher to ensure continuity of learning process./span/li li style="font-weight: 400;"span style="font-weight: 400;"Completes other duties as assigned or required. /span/li /ul pstrongMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:/strong/p pnbsp;/p pstrongEducation and Experience:/strong/p ul li style="font-weight: 400;"span style="font-weight: 400;"High school diploma or equivalent; /spanstrongAND/strongspan style="font-weight: 400;" Associate Degree /spanstrongOR/strongspan style="font-weight: 400;" minimum of sixty (60) credits post-secondary education /spanstrongOR/strongspan style="font-weight: 400;" passing score on a paraprofessional test; /spanstrongAND/strongspan style="font-weight: 400;" two (2) years of experience working with students with disabilities; /spanstrongOR /strongspan style="font-weight: 400;"an/span span style="font-weight: 400;"equivalent combination of education, training, and experience./span/li /ul pnbsp;/p pstrongRequired Licenses and Certifications:/strong/p pnbsp;/p ul listrongspan style="font-weight: 400;"CPR/First Aid Certification.nbsp;/span/strong/li lispan style="font-weight: 400;"Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card preferred./span/li lispan style="font-weight: 400;"Crisis Prevention Training./span/li /ul pnbsp;/p pstrongRequired Knowledge of:/strong/p pnbsp;/p ul listrongspan style="font-weight: 400;"Behavior management strategies./span/strong/li lispan style="font-weight: 400;"Speech technology devices./span/li lispan style="font-weight: 400;"District, School Board, and Department policies and procedures. nbsp;/span/li lispan style="font-weight: 400;"Methods of classroom management. nbsp;Supervising and instructing students./span/li lispan style="font-weight: 400;"Stages of childhood development. /span/li /ul pnbsp;/p pnbsp;/p pstrongRequired Skills in:/strong/p ul li style="font-weight: 400;"span style="font-weight: 400;"Working with students with special needs. /span/li li style="font-weight: 400;"span style="font-weight: 400;"Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with coworkers and other individuals in contact during the course of work; communicating clearly and concisely; bi-lingual preferred. /span/li li style="font-weight: 400;"span style="font-weight: 400;"Operating a personal computer utilizing standard software such as Microsoft Office and some specialized software; functioning standard office equipment./span/li li style="font-weight: 400;"span style="font-weight: 400;"Planning and implementing lesson plans and activities. /span/li /ul pnbsp;/p pstrongPhysical Demands/Work Environment:/strong/p ul li style="font-weight: 400;"span style="font-weight: 400;"Work is performed in a standard classroom environment./span/li li style="font-weight: 400;"May be required to assist students with restricted mobilityspan style="font-weight: 400;"./span/li /ul
