Group Leader II (GAINS Multiple Locations) (Part-Time 15-20 HR/WK)

Overview: p style="margin: 0px;"span style="font-size: 11.0pt;"The Group Leader II will serve in a support role to the Corps Officers, under the direct supervision of the Program Directors.  They will be intimately and integrally involved in the daily operations of the School-Age Child Care program and the carrying out of its mission.  /span/pp style="margin: 0px;"span style="font-size: 11.0pt;" /span/pp style="margin: 0px;"span style="font-size: 11.0pt;"The Group Leader II may have oversight responsibility for a designated group of children stronguand/or/u/strong a specialized activity, as assigned by the Program Directors.  They may also be responsible to exercise a measure leadership over other employees assigned to them./span/pp style="margin: 0px;"span style="font-size: 11.0pt;" /span/pp style="margin: 0px;"span style="font-size: 11.0pt;"The Group Leader II will be required to provide support to the Program Directors, when necessary.  There may be periods when the Group Leader II will be assigned to assist with a group or activity, under the leadership of another Group Leader.  The Group Leader II should be prepared, experienced and qualified to assume greater leadership responsibility, if necessary./span/pp style="margin: 0px;"span style="font-size: 11.0pt;" /span/pp style="margin: 0px;"span style="font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif;"The ideal candidate will remain teachable and interested in their ongoing professional development/span/p Responsibilities: ul style="margin-top: 0in;"lispan style="font-size: 11.0pt;"Involvement in the total program with willingness to help in all areas as needed, including dining room, outdoor/indoor activities, children with problems, daily assembly, etc./span/lilispan style="font-size: 11.0pt;"Promote observance of the moral and ethical codes affecting participants and staff./span/lilispan style="font-size: 11.0pt;"Attend and contribute to Program Leadership General Staff Meetings./span/lilispan style="font-size: 11.0pt;"Responsible for sharing with your immediate supervisor, all matters of mutual concern relating to the total welfare of the Program./span/lilispan style="font-size: 11.0pt;"Responsible to complete Orientation Sessions and attend all parent meetings./span/li/ulul style="margin-top: 0in;"lispan style="font-size: 11.0pt;"Responsible for the leadership and guidance of assigned campers and your assigned staff./span/lilispan style="font-size: 11.0pt;"Assume responsibility for the health, cleanliness, good habits, welfare and happiness of all participants and staff, but especially those under your direct supervision./span/lilispan style="font-size: 11.0pt;"Maintain a high level of interaction with participants and staff; also be a constructive member of the Leadership contributing in every possible way to the health, harmony and happiness of the Brownsville Corps family./span/lilispan style="font-size: 11.0pt;"Coordinate daily assembly as assigned /span/lilispan style="font-size: 11.0pt;"Communicate with the Program Director, as soon as possible (in private), for actions of staff members that put the health and safety of participants at risk.  Report all incidents minor or major./span/lilispan style="font-size: 11.0pt;"Ability to communicate and work with groups of various ages and skill levels, and provide necessary instruction to participants and/or staff./span/lilispan style="font-size: 11.0pt;"Ability to identify and physically respond appropriately and quickly to emergency situations, as needed./span /li/ulp style="margin: 0px;"strongemuIf assigned to lead an activity/u/em/strongstrongemspan style="font-size: 11.0pt;":/span/em/strong/pp style="margin: 0px;"strongemspan style="font-size: 11.0pt;" /span/em/strong/pul style="margin-top: 0in;"lispan style="font-size: 11.0pt;"Responsible for the organization and administration of assigned activity for children ages 5 -13./span/lilispan style="font-size: 11.0pt;"Assume responsibility for the all areas assigned, proper use of supplies, maintenance of inventory, requesting additional supplies as needed./span/lilispan style="font-size: 11.0pt;"Coordinate program(s) with other program activities and plans.  Offer assistance and support as needed./span/lilispan style="font-size: 11.0pt;"Submit to the program office, lesson plans for assigned classes./span/lilispan style="font-size: 11.0pt;"Organize, direct and instruct assigned activity program geared to all ages, interest and abilities of the participants, both male and female. Display creativity and innovation in programming./span /li/ul Qualifications: ul style="margin-top: 0in;"lispan style="font-size: 11.0pt;"High School Diploma or equivalent; Some College Preferred/span/lilispan style="font-size: 11.0pt;"1.5 years Experience in Youth or Camp Programming and/or group work/span/lilispan style="font-size: 11.0pt;"Leadership experience with peers stronguor/u/strong experience in leadership of organized/specialized programming/span/lilispan style="font-size: 11.0pt;"Current CPR First Aid Certifications/span/lilispan style="font-size: 11.0pt;"Availability for the entire duration of program hours (2:15 – 6 PM during school year; 8 AM – 6 PM on school holidays and summer months)/span/li/ul
