Work collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team in the development of the plan of care for patients. Provide support to doctors and patients through a variety of tasks that support the ultimate goal of providing excellent, high-quality patient care./p pstrongDuties/Responsibilities:/strong/p ul liAssist in planning, providing, and evaluating patient care as a member of the health care team./li liCollaborate with MD, NP and nursing staff in the development of the plan of care for patients./li liObserve patients for reactions to drugs, treatments, signs and symptoms or other medical conditions and immediately reports to departmental supervisor (MD, NP, RN, or LPN)./li liImmediately report any observed change in the patient�s condition or behavior to supervisor./li liAssist with the care of the patient, correctly identifying patient by name of all direct care, procedures, and treatments./li liMaintain medical records within the department according to policy and procedure and in systematic order./li liFile all reports in a timely manner following review by MD, NP or nursing staff./li liObtain medical records as needed for MD, NP or nursing staff./li liProcess incoming and outgoing mail daily./li liRecord all patient care provided in a precise and detailed manner following established procedures for charting./li liUse computer programs, including Order Entry, per policy and procedure as assigned./li liRegularly checks equipment and emergency box/cart per unit specific policy./li liMaintains proper level of stock and supplies as unit requires./li liFollow principles of asepsis and infection control guidelines when performing patient care or for routine cleaning and sterilization of equipment and supplies./li liPromptly answers all calls for assistance./li liMaintain safe environment for patients, staff, and guests./li liProcess and follow up on all CT�s./li liHandle telephone information with courtesy, accuracy, and maintain patient, hospital and physician confidentiality; receives information and distributes messages appropriately./li liCommunicate appropriately with patients, and responds to patient�s needs promptly./li liPerform other duties as assigned.a/aa/aa/aa/aa/aa/a/li li pstrongRequired Skills/Abilities (Unit Specific): /strong/p /li liExcellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EMR./li liExcellent verbal and written communication skills with active listening ability./li liAbility to cost-effectively manage resources and supplies./li liAbility to learn and practice safety policies and procedures/li liAbility to work effectively and collaboratively within a team environment./li liBasic office skills such as sorting, printing, faxing and record keeping./li li pstrongEducation and Experience:/strong/p /li liHigh school diploma or equivalent required./li liCurrent CPR certification./li liGraduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program with current certification preferred./li liMinimum one year of Pc/CRT, EMR data entry required./li liMinimum one year of experience in medical assisting within an office environment preferred./li li pstrongWorking Conditions: /strong/p /li liRequires frequent sitting, walking, standing and bending during the work day./li liRequires ability to lift, move, carry, push or pull approximately 200 pounds with assistance using proper body mechanics and/or available equipment to safely ambulate and transport patients./li liRequires the use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to, computers, phones, faxing machines, etc./li liRequires assembling, operating and maintaining department and emergency equipment./li liExposure to blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, and infectious/hazardous materials./li liActively Participates in Quality Assurance programs, CQI, and in-service programs; attends all mandatory classes as required; completes unit-specific competencies, cross-training, and accepts assignments to other units/shifts as hospital needs require./li liAttends meetings with staff and committees./li liAttendance ensures that job requirements are met./li liComplies with DOH requirements for annual health assessments and required immunizations. pPay Range: $18.00-$21.60/hr/p pEmployee salary is based on commensurate experience and other qualifications./p pemThe mission of Oswego Health is to provide accessible, quality care and improve the health of residents throughout Oswego County.
