 Training and Supervision 

Print Plant staff will clearly outline the job responsibilities and train individuals.  Upon completing the training, supervision will be provided, but the ideal candidate will be able to navigate their way around the Print Plant and Test Distribution Unit (TDU) with minimal assistance. 

 Key Responsibilities: 

  • Operate speed binding machines by feeding materials for binding into machines. 
  • Load bound material into boxes for shipping, no counting is involved. 
  • Operate box stapling machine. 
  • Operate folding machine 
  • Operate glue and tape machine. 
  • Operate shrink wrap machine. 
  • Use the drill press. . 
  • Scans print documents and load paper product for customer deliveries which may be a part of your duties. 
  • Must be comfortable working in teams and taking directions from colleagues, team leaders as well as supervisors. 
  • Must be able to pull, lift and stack boxes on carts, push carts filled with boxes and unload boxes for sorting.  Standing for up to 6.5 hours per day. 

 Minimum Qualifications: 

Must meet the disability criteria as defined by Ability One . Must be physically able to perform medium physical labor and lift up to 40 lbs. Must wear clothing appropriate to lifting and moving boxes (no sweatpants or baggy pants).  

QUALIFICATIONS:   

  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions 
  • Ability to understand and successfully perform the various steps in the bindery process 
  • Ability to operate Speed Binding Machine by feeding pockets of machine with materials for binding.  
  • Watch for stitching errors, jams in pockets and on gathering chains. Must be able to distinguish paper goods apart from others. When unloading check for uneven cuts, bent corners and broken stitches.  
  • Ability to stack into boxes for shipping. Counting is involved.  
  • Oral Comprehension, Written Expressions, Near Vision, Oral Expression, Written Comprehension, Speech Clarity, Speech Recognition, Mathematical Reasoning, Problem Sensitivity (the ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely wrong and recognizing there is a problem). 
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.   
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Must have good command of the English language, both oral and written. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general educational information, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to complete timely progress reports, business correspondence or other documents. The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, supervisors and the general public is very important. 
  • Ability to perform basic computer functions.  Logging on to a computer, navigating to websites, printing, checking email, etc.
