Nurses Aide

TITLE: Nurses Aide 26/27

POSITION SUMMARY:

A school nurse's aide provides essential support to the school nurse by managing daily student health needs, administering basic first aid, and documenting visits. They work under the supervision of a licensed nurse, administering medication, assisting with health screenings, and maintaining clinic records to ensure student safety.  In all aspects, they support school nurses in promoting a safe and healthy learning environment for all students.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current First Aid and CPR/AED certification

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with children, preferably in a school or healthcare setting
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) preferred

REPORTS TO:  Building Nurse and Health Coordinator

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Administer basic first aid for injuries and illnesses.
• Give, document, and manage doctor-approved medication for students.
• Assist students with conditions like diabetes, asthma, or allergies (e.g., blood glucose monitoring).
• Document daily health office visits, injuries, and communicable diseases.
• Act as a liaison between the school, parents, and health providers, notifying parents of serious injuries or illnesses.
• Support the school nurse with vision, hearing, or scoliosis screenings.
• Maintain inventory of health office supplies and ensure a clean environment.

Additional Duties: 

• Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Health Coordinator, Building Principal and other Central Office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.  

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• 186.5 days; 8.0 hrs / day. Does not include a 30 minute lunch.
• $16.45-$16.70 per hour
