Job Summary

The Neurointerventional Radiologic Technologist performs routine to complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures under physician direction in Angio Interventional Radiology or Neuro IR services. Procedures include extra-cranial and intracranial angiography, vertebroplasty, spinal injections, myelograms, cisternograms, embolizations, cryoablations, coilings, and clot retrievals. Customers include employees, medical staff, patients, and regulatory agencies.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support for IR and neurointerventional procedures, including discograms, aspirations, therapeutic injections, angiography, and ablations.
  • Assist with sterile and non-sterile neurointerventional procedures, such as tumor, epistaxis, and spinal lesion embolization.
  • Operate advanced imaging equipment following established guidelines and protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and radiation safety practices.
  • Instruct students and residents; perform preceptor duties as needed.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks on equipment.
  • Maintain supply inventory for IR and neuro IR procedures.
  • Utilize UHS information systems, including IR scheduling.
  • Review coding procedures for accurate billing of IR and neuro IR procedures.
  • Stay updated on new techniques and technology through lectures, seminars, and readings.
  • Adhere to clinical principles and methods during interventional diagnostic procedures.
  • Maintain patient and hospital confidentiality.
  • Comply with hospital policies on incident reporting.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in radiologic technology.
  • New York State license as Radiologic Technologist.
  • ARRT(R) certification.
  • BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).

  • Strong attention to detail, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
