American Traveler is seeking an experienced Inpatient Rehab RN for a night shift travel contract at a Level II Trauma and Stroke Center in St. Joseph, MO, requiring a MO or compact RN license and BSN.
Details- Inpatient Acute Rehabilitation Unit (ARU) within a 352-bed Level II Trauma and Stroke Center
- Patient population includes post-surgical, post-stroke, CHF, falls, weakness, AMS, elective total joints, hip/femur fractures, back/neck surgery, stroke/TIA, and general med-surg patients requiring prolonged physical or occupational/speech therapy
- Patient ratio is 1:5 on days and 1:5–6 on nights
- Non-telemetry unit; patients may occasionally have IVs or require lab draws
- Charting via Epic
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30, Monday–Sunday schedule cycle
- Every 3rd weekend required
- Holiday block coverage required for the duration of the contract
- Floating to like units within the hospital may be required at any time
- Free parking on-site
- Local candidates are accepted at a reduced rate if residing within a 50-mile radius of the facility
- Active RN license — MO state or compact license required; pending license acceptable but must be in hand prior to start
- BSN required
- Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
- ACLS preferred if not already listed as required (refer to certifications above)
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required; first-time travelers accepted with a minimum of 2 years of experience
- Must pass a Basic EKG exam with a score of 80% or higher (2 attempts allowed)
- Copy of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
- Two professional references required for consideration
- Works collaboratively with physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and care management teams to plan patient discharge from the time of admission
- Responsible for independent IV insertions and lab draws during shifts
- Schedule is built 6 weeks in advance; travelers joining mid-cycle may have limited self-scheduling opportunities
- Weekend and holiday time-off requests must be pre-approved prior to accepting the position
- All organizational mandatory education must be completed
- No smoking or leaving the premises during a shift
- Unit is currently expanding with 18 additional beds, creating multiple staffing opportunities
- Extension opportunities are likely for strong performers; permanent conversion is also possible
- Consistent attendance is essential in this role
