Summary
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Performs diagnostic x-ray (XR) procedures and computed tomography (CT) procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician. Uses XR and CT technology and techniques to assist in the diagnosis of patient medical problems for patients throughout the age continuum.
PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Performs all types of diagnostic XR procedures including, but not limited to, fluoroscopy, portable diagnostic, and portable fluoroscopy.

Performs all CT studies to include diagnostic and interventional procedures and practices radiation safety for patients, staff and self within three (3) months of hire.

Uses sterile technique as required.

Optimally demonstrates patient anatomy through proper positioning and selection of technical factors, while shielding appropriately.

Performs venipuncture.

Competently operates all diagnostic XR equipment including but not limited to portable and stationary x-ray machines, fluoroscopy equipment including C-Arms, O-Arm, and CT equipment to support imaging systems and performs and evaluates images for technical quality.

Utilizes department computer systems, picture archiving and communication system (PACS), etc., to review patient history and provide accurate documentation of studies.

Properly cares for and performs imaging for patients of all ages while maintaining patient confidentiality.

Coordinates exams within the department and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care; communicates with medical staff, coworkers, patients, families, and other hospital staff to ensure quality patient care.

Handles telephone calls for scheduling, coordination, or questions with courtesy and accuracy.

Participates in the departments quality improvement plan as required.

Cleans, disinfects, and maintains equipment as necessary; notifies coordinator of equipment problems and calls appropriate service vendors as needed.

Keeps work area properly supplied.

Meets on-call responsibilities and responds within the allotted time limit.

Assists with departmental orientation and student clinical education as directed.

Assists in the future planning of the XR and CT department.

Accesses and administers drugs and biologicals that are pertinent to essential job functions in accordance with Medical Center procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduate from a school of radiologic technology with current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required. Certification in CT preferred within 12 months of hire. Valid State of Nebraska Medical Radiographer license required.
OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:
Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
(DOT) Characterized as medium work requiring exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
