Summer School Principal/Administrator (Districtwide)

Temporary Hourly Position 

Position: The Juneau School District, located in Alaska's capital city, is seeking an outstanding instructional leader to provide principal/administrator support for the district summer school programs.  The District is seeking an individual who is a strong communicator, supportive of staff and students with experience in student discipline and behavior management as well as teacher collaboration, curriculum implementation and proven community involvement and leadership skills.

The successful candidate will be dedicated to achieving academic excellence and lifelong learning, as well as proven leadership abilities; ensures a safe school environment; be committed to parental involvement and school/community partnerships; possess a cultural appreciation for all learners; advocate for students; and be approachable, transparent, timely and proactive.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in education, or closely related field.
• Valid Alaska Administrator's Certificate (Type B) appropriate to Administrator's position at the time Administrator's duties under the contract commence and maintain that certificate while employed pursuant to the contract.
• Minimum three years of successful teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong knowledge and background in literacy instruction.
• Proven leadership skills including staff development and evaluation.
• Successful experience in serving children of varied ethnic, socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
• Successful (PreK-12) teaching experience.
• Actively promote a safe, violence-free school.
• Encourage and respect varying teaching models.
• Committed to a community school concept that includes:

  • Being an advocate for students, parents and staff of the school community.

• Demonstrated experience in successful, equitable, consistent student behavior management and follow through.
• Knowledge of special education programs and requirements.

This is a temporary hourly, non-benefited position. Actual work schedule is dependent upon the needs the needs of the program. The starting rate of pay is $56.08 per hour
