Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position at a Level III trauma center in Connecticut, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg experience and an active CT or Compact RN license.
Details
- Short-term acute care hospital setting with 252 staffed beds, part of the Yale New Haven Health System
- Med/Surg unit with a focus on general medical-surgical patient care
- Skills utilized include cardiac monitoring, emergency response, IV therapy/phlebotomy, peripheral line care, respiratory care, and isolation precautions/PPE
- Charting via Epic (experience preferred)
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required as needed
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active CT or Compact RN license required; CT license takes 15–21 business days to issue, so candidates should apply early
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience required (candidates with 1.5 years may be considered if they have Level I trauma or travel experience)
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
- 1 professional reference required for consideration
- Candidates must have a clean nursing license with no prior disciplinary actions
- Former permanent staff must have been separated for at least 2 years before being considered as a traveler
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include general Med/Surg nursing care with cardiac monitoring, emergency and rapid response team participation, IV therapy, respiratory care, and strict adherence to isolation precautions
- Flu vaccination is required; declinations are not accepted
- COVID vaccine exemptions are accepted for religious or medical reasons only
- Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved; any pre-planned time off prior to the start date should be disclosed upfront
- Completion of non-billable orientation modules is required prior to start (approximately 2 hours) and annually thereafter
