Main Medication Technician – Assisted Living
This position is Part Time at 3-4 days a week, approximately 2-4 hours a day. Please only apply if this would be suitable for your schedule.
Our assisted living community is seeking a dependable and highly organized Main Medication Technician to oversee medication services for our residents. This position plays a key role in ensuring medications are managed safely, accurately, and in close coordination with physicians, pharmacies, families, and leadership. The Main Medication Technician serves as the primary point of coordination for medication management within the community and helps ensure smooth communication between pharmacies, physicians, families, and staff. This role focuses strictly on medication management and coordination and does not include direct resident care duties.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing medications for daily medication passes and shifts to ensure medications are organized and ready for administration
- Preparing, administering, and documenting medications according to physician orders and facility policies
- Maintaining accurate Medication Administration Records (MAR) and ensuring regulatory compliance
- Managing medication refills and coordinating with pharmacies to maintain proper medication supply
- Communicating with physicians’ offices regarding new orders, clarifications, medication changes, and prescription renewals
- Notifying and communicating with families regarding medication updates or changes when appropriate
- Monitoring medication orders to ensure accuracy and timely follow-up on new prescriptions or discontinued medications
- Ensuring medications are stored, handled, and documented according to facility standards and state regulations
- Coordinating medication deliveries and maintaining organized medication systems
- Assisting in maintaining an organized and efficient medication system to support all medication technicians on shift
- Working closely with leadership and staff to communicate medication-related updates
Qualifications:
- Medication Technician certification required; training and certification specific to our facility will be provided
- Previous med tech certificate and experience in assisted living, senior care, or a healthcare setting
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, pharmacies, families, and staff
- Ability to manage multiple medication-related tasks while maintaining accuracy and compliance
