Scope of Position:

Oversees the Damper & Louver Group's Engineers & Drafters to ensure overall coordination of design resources and services. Works with various Engineering, Product Management and Sales personnel providing design support to new product development and existing product improvement projects.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages all aspects of the Engineering and Design activities for the Damper & Louver Group from maintaining products to new product development
  • Plans future product development for increasing performance and compliance with safety standards
  • Acts as a corporate resources for various R&D issues outside of the normal scope of the Business Unit needs
  • Conceptualizes a design and oversees fabrication and evaluation of manufactured components
  • Develops the Engineering personnel to assure technical proficiency, high productivity and proper attitudes within the department and to show the employees a path for advancement
  • Selects and tests purchased components for form, fit, and function
  • Maintains and controls all Engineering, and Design expenses
  • Supports the investigation and resolution of field and manufacturing issues
  • Manages Engineering Design database
  • Fabricates and assembles prototypes
  • Assists in training contractors, wholesalers, reps and fellow employees
  • Assists the Sales department with specific items that separate Company products from competitors
  • Provides pricing information to the salesmen, reps and wholesalers for the MCDLG catalog products & parts
  • Provides proactive input for the franchise to develop new systems that may produce lower costs or better service to the customers
  • Hires, trains, supervises, motivates, mentors, develops and conducts performance reviews for Engineering, Design and Lab staff
  • Performs other similar or related duties as required or requested

Position Requirements:

The Engineering Manager, MCDLG must possess the minimum knowledge listed below:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Eight years of experience in related field
  • Supervisory experience
  • Familiarity with emerging HVAC industry technology
  • Willingness to travel
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Creative, flexible and innovative team player
  • Ability to use computer software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
