Cashier Server

Job Title: Cashier / Front Counter Server
Location: Uptown BBQ
Reports To: Shift Manager / Store Manager

Position Summary

The Cashier / Front Counter Server is responsible for providing excellent customer service while accurately taking and processing customer orders. This position operates the register, assists customers along the cafeteria-style service line, prepares carry-out orders, and ensures all orders are complete and accurate before being handed to customers.

The ideal team member is friendly, fast, organized, and able to work in a busy BBQ restaurant environment.

Customer Service

• Greet every customer with a friendly and professional attitude
• Answer questions about the menu, sides, meats, and daily specials
• Help guide customers through the cafeteria-style ordering line
• Provide a welcoming and positive experience for all guests

Register / Cashier Duties

• Operate the POS register system
• Accurately enter customer orders
• Handle cash, debit, and credit card payments
• Provide correct change and receipts
• Balance cash drawer at the end of the shift when required

Cafeteria Line Service

• Take customer orders at the serving window or counter
• Communicate clearly with kitchen staff about orders
• Plate or package BBQ meats, sides, and drinks as directed
• Maintain speed and accuracy during busy periods

Order Assembly (Carry-Out)

• Assemble complete customer orders including meats, sides, drinks, and utensils
• Double-check orders before handing them to customers
• Ensure packaging is clean, neat, and secure
• Call out order numbers or customer names when orders are ready

Cleanliness & Organization

• Keep front counter, serving line, and register area clean and organized
• Restock items such as cups, lids, napkins, sauces, and to-go containers
• Wipe counters and maintain sanitation standards throughout shift

Team Support

• Communicate with cooks and kitchen staff about order flow
• Help maintain smooth service during rush hours
• Assist with light prep or stocking when needed

• Strong customer service skills
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Basic math and cash handling skills
• Good communication and teamwork
• Ability to stay calm during busy periods

• Ability to stand for long periods
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs when stocking supplies
• Ability to move quickly during peak service times

• Previous restaurant or cashier experience preferred
• Experience with POS systems helpful
• Knowledge of BBQ or soul food menu items a plus

• Fast-paced BBQ carry-out restaurant
• High customer volume during lunch and dinner hours
• Team-oriented environment focused on speed and quality service

Required qualifications:

• Legally authorized to work in the United States
• 16 years or older
