Golf Course Construction Operator

Landscapes Unlimited, LLC one of the country's premier golf course and recreational development firms has several employment opportunities for equipment operator staff in the Houston, TX area.  Opportunities for regular full-time employment may develop, but current positions will be offered as temporary assignments.

Mechanized Equipment Operator

Performs mechanized equipment operation; operates various pieces of equipment such as tractors, loaders, trucks, trenchers, track-hoes, backhoes, and compaction equipment in a safe manner to move land materials and complete top loading, excavations, back-filling and basic finish operations according to project specifications; works independently and in cooperation with fellow employees to complete job tasks to specifications.

Responsibilities

• Operates equipment in a safe manner with precision and efficiency to meet plan specifications and complete job tasks; maintains an awareness of surroundings at all times, including fellow employees and visible and non-visible hazards such as elevation changes, street crossings and underground utilities.
• Conducts daily walk around inspections, performs routine maintenance, and reports damage or needed service to the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent.
• Moves, loads and spreads materials throughout the project site utilizing mechanized equipment; unloads pipe, pallets, and other materials. Knows and does not exceed equipment limitations such as capacity and capability.
• Excavates for pipe, drainage and utility installation and performs back-filling as necessary. Provides direction to employee(s) assisting with installation.
• Performs grading and top loading operations, utilizing traditional laser methods and/or laser-guided equipment.
• Performs and assists with finish operations and seedbed preparation in a trainee capacity.

Knowledge and Abilities

• Knowledge of construction tasks and execution sequence.
• Knowledge of and ability to operate tractors, loaders, trucks, trenchers, track-hoes and backhoes safely and with precision in close proximity to individuals on the ground.
• Ability to operate tractors, loaders, trucks, trenchers, track-hoes and backhoes in non-stable soil conditions and non-level ground terrain.
• Knowledge of and ability to identify and perform preventative maintenance (e.g., fluid levels, greasing of parts, changing filters) and to identify performance and service needs.
• Knowledge of and ability to apply safe operating procedures for assigned equipment.
• Ability to distinguish between the physical properties of soils and knowledge of soil compaction methods.

Experience

• Three to five years’ experience operating tractors, loaders, trucks, trenchers, track-hoes, backhoes and compaction equipment. (Will consider applicants with fewer years’ experience for entry level mechanized operator positions)
• Experience operating tractors, loaders, trucks, trenchers, track-hoes and backhoes in construction or earthwork construction operations such as land development.

Job Type: Full-time, employment may be contingent upon a background check

Salary: $13.25 to $19.00 /hour DOE
