Position’s Expected Duration: April – November
Schedule: 40 hours per week | Rotating schedule | Includes weekends and occasional holidays

Join our team as a seasonal Visitor Services Lead at Castle Rocks State Park in beautiful Almo, ID!
Castle Rocks State Park & City of Rocks National Reserve are seeking an enthusiastic and organized Visitor Services Lead to support daily operations of the park’s Visitor Center and assist with visitor engagement, program coordination, and retail operations. This role works closely with park management and visitor services staff to ensure a welcoming, informative, and efficient experience for park visitors while supporting interpretive programs and special events.
The ideal candidate enjoys public interaction, outdoor recreation, teamwork, and helping visitors connect with the natural and cultural resources of Castle Rocks State Park and the neighboring City of Rocks National Reserve.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Assist with overseeing daily operations of the Visitor Center during operating hours (8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.).
- Help ensure adequate staff coverage for visitor services and interpretive programming.
- Serve as a point of contact for visitors and assist with visitor inquiries in person, by phone, email, website, or mail.
- Educate visitors about park rules, policies, safety, and recreational opportunities
- Work with visitor services staff to support interpretive programs, tours, and educational opportunities.
- Assist management with staffing and logistics for special events and park programs.
- Support tourism outreach and development of packaged recreational opportunities.
- Assist with daily fiscal responsibilities including:
- Processing entry fees
- Preparing deposits
- Managing the Point-of-Sale (POS) system
- Serve as an on-site lead for the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation reservation system.
- Help oversee the resale program including inventory tracking, ordering, and stocking of retail items and brochures.
- Collaborate with visitor services staff and management to create and post content on social media platforms for Castle Rocks State Park and City of Rocks National Reserve.
- Respond to information requests from visitors and tourism partners.
- Assist management in maintaining, planning, and installing interpretive exhibits in the Visitor Center in accordance with interpretive themes and plans.
- Complete monthly visitor services reports.
- Assist with writing the visitor services section of the park’s annual report.
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and visitors.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly with financial transactions and inventory.
- Experience with retail systems, reservations, or point-of-sale systems preferred.
- Interest in outdoor recreation, interpretation, tourism, or park management.
- Ability to work a rotating schedule including weekends and occasional holidays.
