Group Leader II (GAINS Multiple Locations) (Part-Time 15-20 HR/WK)

h2Overview/h2 pThe Group Leader II will serve in a support role to the Corps Officers, under the direct supervision of the Program Directors.  They will be intimately and integrally involved in the daily operations of the School-Age Child Care program and the carrying out of its mission.  /p p /p pThe Group Leader II may have oversight responsibility for a designated group of children stronguand/or/u/strong a specialized activity, as assigned by the Program Directors.  They may also be responsible to exercise a measure leadership over other employees assigned to them./p p /p pThe Group Leader II will be required to provide support to the Program Directors, when necessary.  There may be periods when the Group Leader II will be assigned to assist with a group or activity, under the leadership of another Group Leader.  The Group Leader II should be prepared, experienced and qualified to assume greater leadership responsibility, if necessary./p p /p pThe ideal candidate will remain teachable and interested in their ongoing professional development/p h2Responsibilities/h2 ul liInvolvement in the total program with willingness to help in all areas as needed, including dining room, outdoor/indoor activities, children with problems, daily assembly, etc./li liPromote observance of the moral and ethical codes affecting participants and staff./li liAttend and contribute to Program Leadership General Staff Meetings./li liResponsible for sharing with your immediate supervisor, all matters of mutual concern relating to the total welfare of the Program./li liResponsible to complete Orientation Sessions and attend all parent meetings./li /ul ul liResponsible for the leadership and guidance of assigned campers and your assigned staff./li liAssume responsibility for the health, cleanliness, good habits, welfare and happiness of all participants and staff, but especially those under your direct supervision./li liMaintain a high level of interaction with participants and staff; also be a constructive member of the Leadership contributing in every possible way to the health, harmony and happiness of the Brownsville Corps family./li liCoordinate daily assembly as assigned /li liCommunicate with the Program Director, as soon as possible (in private), for actions of staff members that put the health and safety of participants at risk.  Report all incidents minor or major./li liAbility to communicate and work with groups of various ages and skill levels, and provide necessary instruction to participants and/or staff./li liAbility to identify and physically respond appropriately and quickly to emergency situations, as needed. /li /ul pstrongemuIf assigned to lead an activity/u/em/strongstrongem:/em/strong/p pstrongem /em/strong/p ul liResponsible for the organization and administration of assigned activity for children ages 5 -13./li liAssume responsibility for the all areas assigned, proper use of supplies, maintenance of inventory, requesting additional supplies as needed./li liCoordinate program(s) with other program activities and plans.  Offer assistance and support as needed./li liSubmit to the program office, lesson plans for assigned classes./li liOrganize, direct and instruct assigned activity program geared to all ages, interest and abilities of the participants, both male and female. Display creativity and innovation in programming. /li /ul h2Qualifications/h2 ul liHigh School Diploma or equivalent; Some College Preferred/li li1.5 years Experience in Youth or Camp Programming and/or group work/li liLeadership experience with peers stronguor/u/strong experience in leadership of organized/specialized programming/li liCurrent CPR First Aid Certifications/li liAvailability for the entire duration of program hours (2:15 – 6 PM during school year; 8 AM – 6 PM on school holidays and summer months)/li /ul
