pstrongTHIS IS A SEASONAL SUMMER-ONLY POSITION./strong/p

pAs a member of the Camp Joy staff and under the direct supervision of the Camp Joy Supervisor, the Camp Joy Assistant Supervisor is responsible for group supervision, group management, and childcare in the absence of or as directed by the Site Supervisor./p
h2 Responsibilities/h2
ul
liSupervise campers, counselors, and volunteers as directed by the site supervisor./li
liKeep the supervisor informed at all times of what is going on within the assigned group./li
liReview all Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)./li
liPlan and coordinate group activities focusing on the goals and objectives stated in the camper's IEP./li
liKeep accurate records of camper attendance. (State Dept. of Education and Boston Centers for Youth Families requirement)./li
liMaintain a current listing of those campers on medication (type, dosage, and reason for administration and time to be given)./li
liProvide crisis intervention services to participants in the program as needed./li
liBe involved in the planning and implementation of the pre-camp staff orientation and ongoing in-services workshops for the counselors assigned to his/her group. /li
liMust prepare final reports on all children under his/her care./li
liMust evaluate staff under his/her care./li
liAll other duties assigned by the supervisor or designee, including acting as a counselor as required./li
liPerform related work as required./li

h2 Minimum Entrance Qualifications/h2
ul
liMinimum of 20 years of age or older./li
liMinimum of 3 years of work experience with the special needs population. /li
liMinimum requirement: a college senior majoring in special education or a college graduate who has majored in special education or a related field./li
liDemonstrated experience in planning and programming for a special needs population (educational or recreational)./li
liMust show management potential./li
liMust have current First Aid CPR Certificates./li
liMust be able to perform the duties assigned to counselors as required, including participating in a variety of activities such as swimming./li
liAbility to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job./li

pCriminal Offender Record Information (CORI) and Sexual Offender Record Information (SORI) checks required./p

pstrongThis position has received a waiver from the Boston Residency Commission establishing a temporary moratorium on the City of Boston Residency Ordinance for a period of three years, ending /strongstrongJanuary 4, 2027./strong/p
