Summary

• This position is responsible for the biological specimen receipt, identification verification, processing, data entry/accessioning, and distribution to the appropriate laboratory departments or reference laboratory. May perform multiple functions such as phlebotomy, clerical work, and sample processing. Prepares and ships reference laboratory specimens and resolve pending specimens and transports. Monitors test ordering patterns, specimen quality, and requisitions to ensure compliance with laboratory testing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Meets the requirements for licensure as a Laboratory Assistant by the State of Nevada, which has been obtained and issued within 6 months of paid application to the State.
• Maintains a current Laboratory Assistant or Technologist license through the State of Nevada Department of Health and Human Services and Certification.
• Current Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for HealthCare workers or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification for Healthcare workers. Must be obtained within 3 months of hire.
• Successful completion of a course or training in phlebotomy.
• A minimum of 2 years experience as a full-time employee working in a licensed laboratory and a comprehensive knowledge of most aspects of the laboratory functions primarily specimen processing.
