The Security Officer ensures the safety of the campus community and the security of the facilities in accordance with the regulations of Moberly Area Community College. This a uniformed, unarmed position responsible for security issues at the Moberly site, including monitoring both people and property for safety concerns, locking/unlocking facilities, arming/disarming alarms, and making ID cards.
This is a part-time, as needed position. The candidate must be flexible with their schedule and available to cover shifts during staff absences due to illness or vacation.
Experience is preferred. A high school diploma is required, associate’s degree preferred; must be able to pass a background check and be willing to take first-aid, CPR/AED, baton, self-defense and pepper spray training on an annual basis. Must possess a valid driver’s license, and be able to lift 50 pounds. Must be able to walk throughout the campus buildings and grounds in all types of weather.
Minimum QualificationsEssential functions include:
- Monitor the campus grounds and buildings to ensure the safety of the campus community and visitors
- Be knowledgeable of MACC regulations and local laws and ensure compliance through patrol efforts, observation of the campus community and contact with patrons
- Regularly check buildings and report broken or malfunctioning equipment, or vandalism within the facilities, and provide a work order for Plant Operations
- Watch for hazards which may cause accidents, injuries, or fires in buildings
- Be available to assist the campus community in emergency situations by making the appropriate contact (police, fire, ambulance, etc.)
- Report any violation of law immediately to the Director of Security or the Police Department and submit the appropriate paperwork
- Assist with making photo ID’s and maintaining lost and found items.
- Make regular rounds through the residence halls on campus
- Monitor campus parking lots to facilitate the smooth flow of traffic and the safety of patrons
- Direct traffic and set up directional aids and signage during special events
- Provide directions to buildings, classrooms, etc.
