Retail Maintenance Associate

Position Summary
 At Green Oasis, we take pride in creating and maintaining beautiful outdoor spaces and a welcoming retail environment for our customers. The Retail Maintenance Associate plays a key role in supporting our garden center operations by ensuring our property, equipment, and facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained. This position is ideal for a self-motivated individual who enjoys hands-on work, takes initiative, and thrives in a fast-paced, outdoor environment.

Key Responsibilities

Facility & Grounds Maintenance

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of all retail, storage, and outdoor areas 
• Perform routine upkeep including sweeping, blowing, trash removal, and general property maintenance 
• Keep bulk material bins orderly and materials properly leveled 
• Clean overhead fixtures and maintain a safe, clean working environment 
• Assist with seasonal tasks including snow removal, spring cleanup, and fall winterization 

Equipment, Vehicle & Building Maintenance

• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment and vehicles 
• Check and refill fuel in vehicles, tractors, and gas containers 
• Grease equipment, check tires, and replace air filters as scheduled 
• Maintain cleanliness of company vehicles, including weekly interior and exterior cleaning 
• Perform minor repairs and report larger maintenance issues 
• Utilize basic knowledge of: 
  • Low and high voltage electrical systems 
  • Plumbing and irrigation systems 
  • General construction, assembly, and handyman repairs 

Seasonal & Landscaping Support

• Assist with planting, watering, weeding, and plant care 
• Support mulch installation and bed maintenance 
• Lead or assist in operating a 2-person crew performing small landscaping projects, including planting trees, shrubs, and flowers at customer properties 

Logistics & Operations Support

• Assist with unloading deliveries and organizing materials 
• Load bulk materials and products for customers safely and efficiently 
• Maintain organization of yard and inventory areas 
• Safely operate a truck and trailer for transport of materials and equipment 
• Able to complete deliveries in a timely and safe manner, while following all written and verbal instructions

Customer Service & Retail Support

• Provide friendly and professional customer assistance that reflects Green Oasis’s commitment to quality service 
• Operate point-of-sale (POS) system when required 
• Assist with product demonstrations during events (e.g., fire pits, grills, pizza ovens) 
• Communicate effectively with customers and team members 

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of electrical systems (low and high voltage), plumbing, and irrigation preferred 
• General handyman skills including construction, assembly, and repairs 
• Ability to safely operate trucks and trailers 
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills 
• Self-motivated with the ability to identify tasks and work independently 
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team 
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions 
• Prior landscaping, maintenance, or retail experience preferred 

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly 
• Ability to climb ladders and work at heights safely 
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting 
• Ability to work in outdoor conditions including heat, cold, and snow 

Schedule & Employment Details

• Seasonal position; layoffs during off-season are likely 
• Opportunities for snow removal work may be available during winter months 
• Flexible scheduling available, including part-time opportunities 
• Must be available to work weekends during peak season 
• Some evening availability required based on business needs
