About the Innovation Team:
The Innovation Team is housed within Jefferson County’s Business Innovation and Technology Department. Our vision is to foster innovation to transform government services for the better.
We operate a series of projects and programs such as process improvement training, innovation programs and internships, technology evaluations, and project management of select service improvements.
About the Innovation Internship Program:
Jefferson County’s Innovation Team hosts a cohort of interns every fall and spring semester as well as during the summer. Innovation interns get first-hand experience in civic innovation, ranging from emerging technologies to transformational initiatives. We strive to build a strong community, even within a hybrid environment, and provide opportunities for mentoring, networking, professional development, and getting to know your fellow interns. Internships are designed to last at least a semester, and successful interns are encouraged and welcome to continue their internship.

About the Position
We are searching for an Innovation Intern to support project management, planning, and execution of the Jeffco 2026 Tech Showcase. The Tech Showcase is an internal county event designed to increase awareness and adoption of technology tools, services, and innovations available to Jefferson County employees.
The intern will support end-to-end event planning, including timeline development, task tracking, stakeholder coordination, presenter support, logistics planning, and post-event follow-up. This role will help ensure the Tech Showcase is well-organized, accessible, and impactful for employees across the county. The successful candidate will be highly organized, comfortable coordinating across teams, detail-oriented, and interested in using project management practices to support large, cross-functional initiatives in government.
SCHEDULE:
This internship is for 25-30 hours per week (not exceeding 130 hours in a calendar month) for the duration of the summer semester. Most of these hours will be completed during core business hours, Monday-Thursday between 8 AM – 5 PM.
This internship is hybrid, with remote work and in-office work as determined by business need.
COMPENSATION:
Hiring Range: $19.00 – $20.00 USD Hourly
Compensation will be determined based on education, experience, and skills.
BENEFITS:
Please note that this is a temporary, non-benefited position. There is no holiday pay. Employees are able to earn 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to 48 hours.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Specifically, the Jeffco Project Management Intern should expect to:
- Support project planning and coordination for the 2026 Tech Showcase, including
timelines, work plans, and deliverables - Track tasks, deadlines, risks, and dependencies across multiple stakeholders and
workstreams - Coordinate logistics related to event scheduling, presenters, booths, technology needs,
and materials - Support communication with participating departments, presenters, and vendors
- Assist with documentation, agendas, run-of-show materials, and post-event reporting
- Help gather and synthesize feedback and metrics to evaluate event impact
- Provide operational and administrative support to ensure smooth execution of the event
About you:
We’re looking for a highly organized and curious person who enjoys bringing structure to complex, collaborative projects and is excited to support a large-scale internal event from planning through execution.
We welcome non-traditional candidates in our internship program and work with career changers as well as current students and recent graduates. Generally, we’re looking for candidates with the following experiences, skills, and/or interests:
- Interest in project management, event planning, or operations
- Interest in how technology and innovation are communicated and adopted within organizations
- Comfort coordinating across teams, managing timelines, and tracking details
- Interest in supporting events, workshops, or large meetings
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Adaptable as both a supportive team player and an independent contributor
- Experience taking initiative and following projects through to completion

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Currently enrolled and pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree.
- Interest or experience in project management, event planning, or operations
- Familiarity with project tracking tools (particularly Monday.com)
- Interest or experience in supporting cross-functional initiatives involving multiple stakeholders
