The Nurse Tech program is designed to help the student nurse grow and develop as a true nursing professional. /pp Purpose: /pp To experience a realistic working environment /pp To gain experience in an employment situation /pp To help the student familiarize themselves to the hospital environment /pp To provide opportunities for interaction with physicians and other healthcare providers /pp To expand clinical knowledge and skills /ppThe Nurse Technician performs basic patient care by assisting in the treatment and care of patients according to the nursing school level training and under the direction of a licensed nurse /pp /ppPOSITION EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS: /pp/pulliHigh school diploma or GED required/liliCurrent student in good standing with an Accredited Nursing Program (RN). Required to submit transcript (transcript will be reviewed to verify required classes are complete and passed. This will be checked off by the Education Department), or/liliA graduate of an Accredited Nursing Program (RN) who has taken but not successfully completed the State board of nursing examination within the first year following graduation. Required to obtain RN license within a year. After one year will be demoted to a non-licensed position if RN license is not obtained./liliBLS Certification from American Heart Association (AHA) required/liliAble to provide the hospital with one shift every pay period./liliComputer skills required with knowledge of Microsoft Office suite./liliGood written and verbal communication skills required./liliBilingual- English/Spanish preferred/li/ulp /ppJOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: /pp /pp/pulliCompletion of at least two semesters of ADN or BSN Nursing Program/liliKnowledge of State, Federal, and JCAHO regulations./liliNewly graduated nurses hired under DHR health Residency Program who do not successfully pass NCLEX automatically convert to the position of nurse technician /li/ulbr /pResponsibilities:br //ppPOSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:/pp /pp/pulliPromotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others. Considers mission, vision and values in developing services, standards and practices./liliActivities of Daily Living for patients./liliMay perform procedures, examples are collecting specimens, oxygen therapy, dressing changes, wound irrigations, colostomy care, urinary catheterization and irrigation, tracheostomy care, oral, nasal suctioning, isolation procedures, heating-cooling blankets./liliAssists with patient feeding./liliTransports, positions and drapes patients for exams and treatments./liliAssists patients in ambulating./liliTakes and records vital signs, weights and I amp; O./liliPasses and collects bed pans./liliChanges bed linens./liliProvides encouragement, support and comfort to patients and family members./liliMonitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems./liliProvides age and culturally appropriate care./liliComply with mandatory education modules./liliFollows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required./liliOther duties as assigned. /li/ulbr /pOther information:br //ppLINES OF REPSONSIBILITES: /pp(Chain-of-command)/pp /pp1. Working Conditions: The individual spends over 95% of his/her time in an air-conditioned environment with varying exposures to noise.
