Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Night shifts, 3x12-hour schedule (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM), includes every-other-weekend coverage (minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule); 36- or 48-hour block options may be offered (note: unit is very fast paced and 48-hour blocks may be challenging).

Roles & Responsibilities- Provide exceptional labor and delivery nursing care for high-acuity obstetrical patients (including high-risk antepartum and postpartum care)
- Perform sterile vaginal exams and manage intrapartum assessments to support safe deliveries
- Circulate for C-sections in the OR and support the surgical team to ensure smooth, safe procedures
- Deliver immediate newborn care, including neonatal resuscitation per NRP guidelines
- Triage obstetrical patients in the unit’s triage area and coordinate appropriate admissions and outpatient procedures
- Use Epic for accurate charting and Pyxis for safe medication management
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (pharmacy, respiratory, PT, social services, lift teams and more) to optimize patient outcomes
- Manage dynamic census and workflow in a fast-paced unit, maintaining safety and excellent patient experience

Requirements
Qualifications- Minimum 2 years of L&D experience required; 3 years preferred — this unit is fast paced and requires comfort with high volume
- Demonstrated experience in high-volume birth settings (facility births >300/month required)
- Certifications required: BCLS (BLS), NRP, AWHONN Intermediate (AWHONN Advanced preferred; C-EFM accepted in lieu of AWHONN)
- Competent in sterile vaginal exams, circulating for C-sections, and immediate newborn care
- Comfortable with float duties within a high-risk maternity unit and meeting weekend coverage requirements
- Traveler-friendly: unit will accept first-time travelers but experience in similar large/high-volume settings is expected
- Labor & Delivery management and high-risk antepartum care
- Circulate for C-section and OR familiarity
- Sterile vaginal exam technique and intrapartum assessment
- Immediate newborn care and neonatal resuscitation (NRP)
- Epic electronic charting and Pyxis medication systems
- Telemetry interpretation and cardiac monitoring in obstetrical emergencies
- IV therapy skills including starting and maintaining IVs
- Triage of obstetrical patients, OCT (Oxytocin Challenge Tests), and infant/neonatal arrest response
