Job Summary
Plans and implements specific treatment programs for individual patients in acute care, inpatient, and outpatient settings, long term care settings in accordance with the principles and practices of occupational therapy. Collaborates with interdisciplinary treatment team.
Responsibilities
1. Plans a variety of sensorimotor, educational, recreational and social activities to provide occupational therapy to patients.
2. Consults with other members of the rehabilitation team to select the most appropriate activity program for individual patients, based on patient needs and capabilities.
3. Selects appropriate activities based on individual’s physical capacity intelligence level and interests.
4. Teaches patients the skills and techniques required for participation in occupational therapy. Evaluates patient progress, attitudes and behaviors on an ongoing basis.
5. Prepares reports summarizing patient’s reaction and progress with therapy.
6. Conducts internal training programs for medical and nursing staff on occupational therapy techniques and objectives.
7. Designs and fits adaptive equipment and devices such as splints and braces for patient use, based on disability and rehabilitation needs.
8. Consults with physicians on patient progress and provides written follow up to referring physician.
9. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient ranging from newborn to geriatric.
10. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, supports quality assessment and performance improvement processes, adheres to safety, environmental and infection control standards.
11. Participates in CQI, educational programs and in service meetings.
12. Attends meetings as required.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education
• Bachelor's Degree (Required)
Credentials
• Occupational Therapist, Licens (Required)
