Registered Nurse (RN) – PCU/Oncology | Columbus, OH

Join a specialized oncology unit where you’ll care for patients with acute leukemia in a high-acuity, progressive care environment. This role is ideal for RNs with strong telemetry and oncology-focused skills.

Position Overview

Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – PCU/Oncology
Location: Columbus, OH 43210
Shift: Nights – 3x12 (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Pay: $2300–$2400/week
Contract: 13 Weeks

Key Highlights

  • Care for newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients
  • Work in a Progressive Care/Oncology setting
  • Exposure to advanced skills like central lines & blood product administration
  • Self-scheduling requests considered

Patient Population

  • Adults & Geriatrics
  • Oncology (primarily acute leukemia)

Patient Ratios

  • Goal: 1:4
  • May flex to 1:5 based on unit needs

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality care in a PCU/Oncology environment
  • Monitor and interpret telemetry and dysrhythmias
  • Administer:
    • Blood products
    • IV therapies
  • Manage:
    • Central lines & PICC lines
    • Feeding tubes
  • Respond to rapid changes using Rapid Response protocols
  • Follow strict infection prevention and fall prevention protocols

Requirements (Must-Have)

  • Active RN License
  • BLS & ACLS Certifications
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
  • Strong skills in:
    • Telemetry monitoring
    • Dysrhythmia interpretation
    • IV therapy & phlebotomy
    • Central line & PICC line management

Preferred Certifications

  • ONS Chemo Certification
  • NIHSS

Charting System

  • EPIC (experience preferred)

Schedule & Additional Info

  • First-time travelers: Profile will be reviewed by client
  • Weekends: Variable based on unit needs
  • Self-scheduling allowed (not guaranteed)
  • No block scheduling

Orientation

  • Week 1: Mon–Fri dayshift
  • Week 2: 36 hours on-unit with preceptor

Important Notes

  • May require day/night rotation depending on staffing needs
  • Schedule reviewed every 4 weeks (changes not guaranteed)
