We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the following position:
Position: Assessment Specialist
The Assessment Specialist conducts standardized assessments for homeless men to identify housing barriers and determine the level of service needed.
The Schwartz Men's Shelter is a shelter for men operating 24 hours a day and seven days a week. Clients are referred to the program by the New York City Department of Homeless Services. To learn more about the program, copy and paste this link into a browser
Location: Wards Island, NY 10035
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associates Degree or 60 college credits courses in Human Services field or High School Diploma or GED with 2 year of relevant shelter experience.
- The position also requires a demonstrated ability in verbal and written communication, including basic computer skills.
Assessment Specialist Principal Responsibilities:
- Provide standardized assessments to individuals who have entered the shelter.
- Obtain household verification and background checks as required.
- Assess client's housing and services need. Identify immediate housing placement opportunities for clients.
- Collaborate with area providers to coordinate necessary services.
- Make referrals to case management, housing search support and other services as appropriate.
