Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Post Surgical Unit position requiring acute care surgical floor experience and Step-down/PCU background, with day shift scheduling in an Oklahoma City hospital.
Details
- Post Surgical Unit (Med/Surg) in an acute care hospital setting
- Patient population includes pre- and post-operative surgical patients, including ENT and transplant cases
- Cares for patients with new drains, wounds, trachs, ostomies, NGTs, and DHTs
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 5:1 for surgical patients and 3:1 for step-down patients
- Step-down/PCU-level patients are included in the caseload
- Day shift, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week (36 hours per week)
- 13-week travel contract
Requirements
- Active RN license (Oklahoma or eNLC Compact) currently in hand
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required
- Acute care surgical floor experience required
- Step-down/PCU experience required
- OR (operating room) experience alone will not be accepted
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program required; BSN preferred
- ENT and/or transplant experience preferred
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include managing an assigned group of post-surgical patients, administering medications, initiating and monitoring IV infusions and blood products, and documenting patient responses to nursing interventions
- Collaborates with physicians during patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures
- Communicates care plans and discharge instructions to patients and families
- Delegates tasks to support staff as appropriate
- All certifications must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Candidates who have previously worked at this facility must have a 6-month separation period after 26 weeks of total tenure before being eligible for another contract
- Compliance deadlines are strictly enforced — candidates should be prepared to begin onboarding immediately upon acceptance
