Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery position requiring a minimum of 3-5 years of L&D experience, Epic proficiency, and the ability to circulate and provide newborn care.

Details

  • High-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery unit with 31 rooms and an average daily census of 15 patients, with 500-600 deliveries per month
  • Patient population includes midwifery clients, private OB patients, adult recovery services supporting substance recovery, and community care clinic patients
  • Unit is equipped with 4 ORs and utilizes electronic fetal monitoring
  • Medications include Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate
  • EMR: Epic (required)
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–7:30)
  • Schedule is posted every 6 weeks to meet unit needs, with every other weekend required
  • Holiday coverage required as needed
  • Floating required to Postpartum and Antepartum units, and may include floating to sister facilities that provide Mother/Baby care

Requirements

  • Active WA RN license or valid Compact RN license required
  • Required certifications: BLS and NRP
  • Preferred certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and AWHONN Intermediate
  • Minimum 3-5 years of L&D experience in a high-acuity, high-paced environment required; 5+ years of high-risk L&D experience strongly preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Must be able to circulate in the OR
  • Must be proficient in newborn care, including eye prophylaxis, Vitamin K (thigh) injections, and newborn assessments
  • Must be able to function in the role of Baby Nurse during delivery and continue newborn care until transfer to Postpartum
  • Minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty required for consideration
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • Active professional license required at time of consideration
  • Proof of required certifications required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • Former permanent staff of any Swedish facility must have been separated for at least 3 months before being eligible; candidates cannot reside within 50 miles of the facility
  • Former permanent staff of other Providence (non-Swedish) facilities are eligible after a separation of at least 3 months
  • Minimal RTO is expected; time off requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis
  • Travelers are expected to float between all facilities within the state; refusal to float may result in assignment termination
