About this job

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate, compliant, and timely processing of payroll for Sunbelt Solomon. This role requires the exercise of discretion and independent judgment when investigating and resolving payroll-related issues while ensuring strict adherence to company policies and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

This is an onsite role, Monday through Friday, based out of our Solomon, KS office, and may require up to 5% travel for business needs.

  • Payroll Processing: Assist in the Processing weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly payroll, including calculating gross-to-net pay, bonuses, commissions, and deductions
  • Data Maintenance: Maintain and update employee records, including hiring, termination, salary changes, and bank information
  • Time & Attendance: Review timecards, track PTO, sick leave, and holidays to ensure accuracy
  • Employee Support: Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries about paychecks or tax documents
  • Reporting & Reconciliation: Perform payroll reconciliation, generate reports, and manage benefits/garnishment deductions
  • Experience: Previous experience in payroll or accounting roles.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., UKG, ADP, Kronos, Oracle HCM) and MS Excel
  • Analytical Skills: Strong math aptitude and attention to detail to ensure accuracy.
  • Communication: Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information and communicate effectively with staff
  • Education: High school diploma required; a degree in accounting or HR is often preferred
