Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PICU position requiring a minimum of 2 years of current PICU experience, Epic proficiency, and an OH or Compact RN license in hand.
Details
- 13-week contract in a Pediatric ICU (PICU) at a children's hospital setting
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Epic EMR experience is required
- Teaching hospital experience is preferred
- Float requirements include NICU, CV PICU, ED, stepdown, and med-surg units as needed
- No on-call responsibilities
Requirements
- Active OH or Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of current, recent PICU experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Candidates with 1.5–2 years of experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis; less than 1.5 years is not eligible
- First-time travelers may be considered with closer to 3 years of PICU experience and recent Level 1 facility experience
- Proficiency with renal/GU care including urinary catheter management and acute/chronic renal failure
- IV therapy skills including administration of blood products and IV vasopressors
- Respiratory skills including ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, intubation assistance, and tracheostomy care
- Cardiovascular skills including hemodynamic monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Pediatric dosage calculations and use of the Broselow system
- 2 supervisory or manager-titled references required for consideration; at least one must be a manager or supervisor (charge nurse references do not qualify)
Additional Information
- Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Candidates who have worked permanently for this health system within the last 2 years are not eligible
- CVPICU-only experience without current PICU experience will not be considered
- Floating to other units is a key expectation of this facility and travelers must be fully prepared to comply
- Attendance reliability is taken very seriously at this facility
