Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for an acute care hospital position requiring broad surgical service line proficiency, Epic EMR experience, and the ability to take call.
Details
- Work setting is an acute care hospital OR department with 7 OR suites and 2 Endo suites
- Patient population includes adults, geriatrics, pediatrics, and obstetric cases across multiple surgical specialties including neurosurgery, ENT, orthopedic, GYN, general surgery, and Da Vinci robotics
- Staff must be well-versed in all surgical procedures as there are no specialized teams per service line — neuro and multi-service line experience strongly preferred
- Charting is performed in Epic EMR
- Schedule is 8-hour day shifts (0630–1500), 5 days per week
- On-call requirement includes 1 weeknight per week and every 5th or 6th weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
- Rotating holiday call is required
- Floating may be required to Pre/Post-op, PACU (if trained), and the ER for trauma cases
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active NE state or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses are not accepted
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; pending certifications are not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of OR RN experience required
- Strong multi-service line surgical experience required; neurosurgery experience (levels 3 and 4) strongly preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Driver's license required for consideration and used to verify permanent address for radius eligibility
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, each including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Candidates must permanently reside more than 50 miles from the facility
Additional Information
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- Orientation consists of 1 week in the OR, including a pass/fail open-book skills exam on the final day of orientation — a score of 90% or higher is required to pass
- Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to comply may result to contract termination
- The OR team is known for exceptional comradery, teamwork, and a strong commitment to patient safety — flexibility, collaboration, and a willingness to educate others are valued attributes
- Candidates who are currently or have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year are not eligible; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
- RTO requests of 7 days or fewer for the contract period should be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved after consideration
