Allegheny County Department of Human Services, Area Agency on Aging is expanding its Protective Services Unit. We are looking for robust and compassionate professionals to assist in protecting and empowering the older adults in our community. Please join us as a TEAM dedicated to this worthy endeavor.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As an Aging Care Manager 3, you will serve within the Older Adult Support Division, Protective Services Unit, to maintain, update, and disseminate extensive information regarding aging programs, services, and regulations. You will have the opportunity to provide vital technical support to care management and protective services staff, providers, and subcontractors, and investigate complaints of abuse and neglect.
We are looking for someone with excellent critical thinking skills in order to perform protective services investigations and maintain a caseload of vulnerable older adults in need of protection from abuse, exploitation, abandonment, or self-neglect. Specific case management duties include recommending cases for guardianships or mental health commitments, conducting interviews and providing consultative or expert opinions to law enforcement, prosecutors, and judges concerning abuse or neglect. You can expect to review documents and records, participate in care service planning and refer to community organizations for follow-up or other case managers for on-going case supervision. Within this role, you will also provide training to new staff members and assist in the development of training programs and program monitoring tools. Additional duties:
- Receive and screen Reports of Need for Protective Services
- Give informational presentations to various audiences
- Complete, organize, and maintain documentation, logs, records, and written reports as directed
- Coordinate and participate in case conferencing with other law enforcement, legal, behavioral health and social services professionals as needed to resolve challenging or complex cases
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. Hybrid work of up to two days per week after six months of employment. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pittsburgh. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as an Aging Care Manager 2 or Aging Program Assessor; or
- One and one-half years of professional human services, law enforcement, or nursing experience; and a bachelor's degree in social sciences, behavioral sciences, human services, or a closely related field; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes six months of professional human services, law enforcement, or nursing experience.

- You must pass a background investigation.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
