Direct Counsel is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney to join a respected national law firm in its Seattle office.

This opportunity is ideal for a junior associate (1–4 years of experience) interested in working on complex litigation matters, particularly representing public agency clients in a collaborative and dynamic environment.

Position Overview:
The associate will work on a diverse range of litigation matters, supporting public sector clients across various stages of litigation. This role offers hands-on experience, early responsibility, and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to case strategy and execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery documents
  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda
  • Assist with case strategy, fact development, and trial preparation
  • Manage multiple assignments and deadlines efficiently
  • Collaborate closely with partners and team members on active matters

Qualifications:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials
  • 1–4 years of litigation experience
  • Demonstrated experience with legal research, writing, and drafting litigation documents
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Admission to the Washington State Bar is required
  • Experience or interest in eminent domain law is a plus

Compensation & Benefits:
The expected salary range for this position is $190,000 to $220,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Associates are eligible for annual bonuses, including a performance-based bonus of up to 15% of base salary upon meeting the 1,850 billable hours target (which includes up to 100 hours of approved pro bono work).
