Commercial HVAC Business Development Estimator

Location: Euless, TX (DFW Metro)

Role Type: Full-Time | 7+ Years Experience | Reports to Ownership


The Opportunity

We are a well-established DFW mechanical contractor (since 2005) currently in a well-capitalized growth phase. We aren't looking for a "bid-tapper" who waits for the phone to ring. We are looking for a Revenue Engine: a hybrid professional who can hunt GC relationships and translate those opportunities into winning, accurate bids.


Year-One Targets

  • $3M+ in sold and completed revenue.
  • 10+ active GC relationships generating consistent bid invites by Month 3.
  • 95% on-time submission rate with a 5% variance (Estimated vs. Actual).


What You’ll Own

You will split your time 50/50 between Market Development and Technical Estimating.

1. Relationship Hunting (50%)

  • Pipeline Generation: Proactively identify and "break" new GC accounts through cold outreach, jobsite visits, and industry networking.
  • Visibility: Represent the company at pre-bid meetings and walk-throughs across DFW.
  • CRM Mastery: Maintain a live pipeline in our CRM; if it isn't tracked, it didn't happen.

2. Strategic Estimating (50%)

  • Precision Takeoffs: Perform detailed mechanical takeoffs (Bluebeam/QuoteSoft) for projects ranging from $100K to $2M+.
  • Pricing Strategy: Leverage vendor relationships and market intelligence to produce bids that win work at target margins.
  • Post-Bid Analysis: Conduct "Win/Loss" reviews to refine our competitive edge.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 7+ years in commercial mechanical contracting.
  • The "Hunter" DNA: Proven track record of building a book of business from scratch (not just managing house accounts).
  • Technical Savvy: Expert knowledge of RTUs, Chilled Water, AHUs, and Duct Systems. Ability to read specs and identify scope gaps instantly.
  • Local Edge: An existing DFW GC network is a massive plus.
