DoD Senior Network Engineer USAF Base Infrastructure Modernization (BIM)
Hourly Rate: $54$70/hour DOE (10-99 or FTE Available) Traveling and Lodging Paid (based on experience)
Employment: Contract
Clearance: Must hold Secret clearance
Location: Various Locations (CONUS/OCONUS)
Certification: CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) required
Overview
Join a high-impact team supporting the US Air Force Base Infrastructure Modernization (BIM) program. In this role, you will lead the transformation of mission-critical network infrastructure, supporting both NIPR and SIPR environments across Air Force bases. This is an opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies while directly contributing to national defense readiness.
What Youll Do
- Lead end-to-end network modernization efforts, from site surveys through design, implementation, and sustainment
- Conduct comprehensive infrastructure assessments and identify modernization opportunities
- Design and deploy complex wired and wireless Base Area Network (BAN) solutions
- Support and maintain NIPRNet and SIPRNet environments with high availability and security
- Serve as the technical lead for troubleshooting critical network issues and outages
- Translate customer requirements into scalable, secure technical solutions
- Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies to enhance performance and resilience
- Lead network documentation efforts, including diagrams, configurations, and SOPs
- Mentor and oversee junior engineers, ensuring high-quality deliverables
- Participate in technical design reviews and provide expert recommendations
What You Bring
- CCNP certification (required)
- Proven experience in enterprise or DoD network engineering environments
- Strong expertise in routing, switching, network security, and wireless technologies
- Experience supporting or working within NIPR/SIPR or similarly secure environments
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex implementations while maintaining operational continuity
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills in high-pressure environments
- Experience with network assessment tools, monitoring systems, and documentation best practices
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams
