Job Description
The Greater New Bedford Surgical and Laser Center was opened in 1986 with the express purpose of rendering high quality, state-of-the-art eye surgery to patients of all ages, especially those with cataracts, glaucoma, retinal disease, or corneal disease. We also do oculoplastic procedures. The center is designed specifically with the needs of the patient and their family in mind, and the entire process, from initial examination in our clinics in the Eye Health Vision Centers upstairs to the final surgical outcome, is conducted in a pleasant and comfortable environment.
The Surgical Technician prepares and maintains the surgical center to ensure it is in good working order.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Prepares and maintains medical equipment for surgical procedures.
- Participates in the surgery by providing sterile instruments to the surgeon.
- Follows regulations and industry procedures to tend to patient during pre-operation procedures.
- Performs pre-operation preparations to the patient's skin, body and medical equipment.
- May be required to transport patient to and from the operating room.
- Must have a clear understanding of company policies including the company manual.

Education and Experience:· High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of an accredited surgical technician program
Physical Requirements:
- Sitting, Standing, Bending, Reaching, Stooping, Walking and Lifting
- Ability to see, hear, and speak with sufficient capability to perform assigned tasks
- Driving independently to other facilities
