Occupational Therapist Assistant (Travel Contract - Sacramento, CA)
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Occupational Therapist Assistant to join our team on a travel contract basis in Sacramento, California. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist licensed occupational therapists in implementing treatment plans for patients with various physical, developmental, or emotional conditions
- Provide direct patient care, including therapeutic activities and exercises tailored to individual needs
- Monitor and document patient progress, reporting any significant changes to supervising therapists
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized treatment environment
- Educate patients and their families on therapeutic activities and home programs
- Comply with all federal, state, and facility regulations and standards
Skills and Qualifications:
- Valid certification as an Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) in California or eligible for licensure
- Proven experience working as an OTA, preferably in diverse clinical settings
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills
- Flexibility and adaptability to different work environments and patient needs
- Current CPR and First Aid certification

Requirements:Education & Certification
- Associate’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
- Valid state license to practice as an OTA
Experience
- Preferred: 1–2 years of experience in a clinical or rehabilitation setting
- New graduates may be considered depending on supervision availability
Skills & Abilities
- Strong understanding of occupational therapy principles and techniques
- Ability to follow treatment plans developed by licensed Occupational Therapists
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with patients, families, and healthcare teams
- Physical stamina to assist patients with mobility and therapeutic exercises
- Proficiency in documenting patient progress and maintaining accurate records
Technical & Administrative
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Ability to comply with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations
- Organizational skills to manage multiple patients and therapy sessions
