Job Description
Job Summary
Support both our Preconstruction and Estimating efforts by developing accurate take-offs, cost models, and GMP packages for collaborative delivery methods, while also providing estimating support on Design-Bid-Build (DBB) projects alongside the Estimating team.
Essential Functions
- Develop detailed cost models and GMP packages in a transparent and collaborative environment
- Perform accurate quantity take-offs for wet utility work (sewer, water, storm drain) as well as civil scopes such as paving, grading, and concrete
- Review and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contract documents for municipal projects
- Coordinate with engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams to confirm scopes and pricing
- Assist with scheduling input and construction phasing strategies during preconstruction
- Support proposal development for CMAR and JOC pursuits, including scope narratives and cost breakdowns
- Collaborate with Estimating team on DBB bids to ensure alignment across all estimating efforts
- Identify constructability issues and support value engineering efforts
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, job walks, and scope review sessions as needed
- Adhere to B&F Code of Conduct
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in civil construction estimating with a strong emphasis on underground wet utilities
- At least 2 years working on CMAR, JOC, or other alternative delivery municipal projects
- Understanding of transparent GMP development and collaborative delivery requirements
- Proficiency in Bluebeam, Bid2Win, On-Screen Takeoff (OST), and Microsoft Excel; familiarity with scheduling software such as Microsoft Project is a plus
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work on multiple estimates or cost models simultaneously
- Familiarity with municipal procurement procedures and compliance requirements
- Experience working with public owners, engineering teams, and internal stakeholders in collaborative project settings
- Must have reliable transportation, a valid AZ drivers license, and a favorable driving record
- Occasional travel for site visits and meetings may be required
