Job Description
Position Overview
We’re partnering with a well-established plumbing and electrical contractor seeking a Senior Plumbing Designer to support high-volume multifamily construction throughout Southern California.
This role focuses on large-scale, ground-up apartment communities ranging from 200–300 units. The company is looking for a true senior-level designer who can independently lead plumbing design from underground layout through final drawing completion and code compliance.
The ideal candidate understands multifamily plumbing at scale, is confident interpreting California Plumbing Code, and can produce accurate, coordinated shop drawings without relying on city redlines alone.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
· Lead plumbing design for 200–300 unit multifamily developments
· Design underground waste, vent, water, and storm systems
· Produce complete drawing sets including dimensions, elevations, and detailing
· Perform hydraulic calculations and validate system sizing
· Ensure full compliance with California Plumbing Code (CPC)
· Coordinate daily with project managers, field superintendents, and electrical teams
· Submit weekly drawing updates and revisions
· Utilize AutoCAD or Revit for design production (Revit preferred)
· Support construction teams during buildout to ensure install alignment with design
Background & Qualifications
· 5+ years of plumbing design experience, preferably on large multifamily projects
· Experience designing 200+ unit developments
· Strong knowledge of California Plumbing Code (CPC), ICC, and IAPMO standards
· Proven underground plumbing layout experience
· Proficiency in AutoCAD required
· Revit experience strongly preferred
· Ability to work in-office in a collaborative team environment
· Field experience or C-36 background is a strong plus
Why This Opportunity
· Established contractor with consistent multifamily backlog
· Direct collaboration with experienced leadership and project teams
· Stable work pipeline in a competitive market
· 401(k) with company match
· Paid holidays and PTO
