This role is centered on DOT-driven projects — including new bridge design, rehabilitation, and related highway structures. It’s a strong fit for someone who has been working under NJDOT / NYSDOT standards and wants steady exposure to public infrastructure work without being buried in a massive corporate environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform structural analysis and design for bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and transportation structures
  • Prepare calculations, plans, and specifications for DOT/public agency projects
  • Develop plan sets using MicroStation, InRoads, AutoCAD, and/or Revit
  • Coordinate with civil/highway teams to align structural and roadway design
  • Support or lead submissions to NJDOT, NYSDOT, and other agencies
  • Perform load ratings and rehabilitation design per AASHTO/DOT standards
  • Review shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals during construction
  • Participate in site visits and coordination meetings as needed
Typical Projects:
  • Bridge replacements and new bridge design
  • Bridge rehabilitation and upgrades
  • Culvert and retaining wall design
  • Structural components tied to roadway/highway improvements
  • DOT corridor and infrastructure projects
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • ~5–10 years of experience in bridge / transportation structural design
  • Experience working with NJDOT, NYSDOT, or similar agencies
  • Strong understanding of AASHTO and DOT design standards
  • Proficiency with structural analysis tools (STAAD, SAP2000, LARSA, etc.)
  • Familiarity with MicroStation / InRoads strongly preferred
  • EIT required; PE preferred or in progress
  • Able to manage multiple projects and coordinate across teams
Compensation & Benefits:
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k) with company match
  • PTO + paid holidays
  • Hybrid flexibility
  • Support for PE licensure and long-term growth
